Dear ImproGuise fans
We have come to the end of 2013. Can you believe it? Looking back, it’s been a year of improv firsts – our 2 week improv festival at The Kalk Bay Theatre, seconds – our second successful Soap-A-Thon, regulars – our weekly shows, and experiments – Jam Sandwich every last Thursday of the month at Alexander Bar. There are only a handful of shows left at The Intimate (Monday 2, and 9 December) and The Kalk Bay Theatre (Tues 3, 10, 17 December) before we take a short break and regroup for an incredible and action packed improv 2014.
Sadly, we say goodbye to The Intimate Theatre forever on 9th December. It has been a wonderful home to ImproGuise for the last many years, and Chris Weare and his cohorts have been the best hosts to our crazy brand of Monday madness. We are heartbroken that one of Cape Town’s most exciting, cutting edge and needed fringe theatres is disappearing.
However, *insert drumroll here* we are delighted to announce the beginning of a brand new relationship. The ink is not yet dry on the pre-nup, but we can’t hold our breath. From the 17 Feb 2014 we will be performing our unique and best loved short form show TheatreSports every Monday night at the gorgeous new Galloway Theatre at the Waterfront Theatre School. In fact, the Waterfront Theatre School is set to become our new home in more ways than one, since we will be running all our workshops and classes there too. We are so excited to be so central and close to the Waterfront itself, and part of a brand new theatre venture.
We’ll be letting you know more about our Gala TheatreSports launch and which secret celebrity we have up our sleeve closer to the time, but in the meantime we just wanted to imprint our fantastic news firmly into your psyches before seasonal madness takes its toll.
Yours in Improv
